Sustainability at Dankalk

Our ambitions, responsibilities and concrete actions

At Dankalk, we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint from our production. Our ambition is to achieve a 50% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030, compared to our level in 2016.

The production of lime is energy-intensive. This is the case for both the quarrying, processing and drying processes. Therefore, a real reduction in CO₂ emissions requires a long-term and systematic effort, where technology, process optimization and investments go hand in hand.

Concrete initiatives and investments

To translate ambitions into action, Dankalk has prepared a roadmap that sets the direction for the modernization of our facilities, energy consumption and production processes.

Among the key initiatives are:

  • Investments in more energy-efficient production equipment
  • Continuous optimization of our processes
  • Utilization of surplus heat from production, which is delivered to the district heating network in Løgstør and contributes to local heat supply
  • Collaboration with local and regional stakeholders on energy utilization and security of supply

These initiatives reduce both energy consumption and CO₂ emissions and ensure that resources are utilized in the best possible way – also beyond Dankalk’s own facilities.
