Lime for industrial products: Betocarb and lime filler
Dankalk supplies high-quality lime for the production of concrete, asphalt, paint and more. The function of the lime products can be anything from acting as a filler or pigment to increasing the strength of the final product. See below if you could benefit from using one of our products such as betocarb or chalk and lime filler.
For information on industrial wastewater treatment or flue gas cleaning, see Wastewater or Flue Gas Cleaning respectively.

Concrete production
Dankalk K/S recommends the use of BETOCARB® in all types of concrete production.
BETOCARB ® is produced in Denmark in a well-defined and controlled industrial process. In addition, BETOCARB® is manufactured to controlled specifications, such as fineness, particle size distribution and CaCO3 content.
BETOCARB® is specially formulated in a range of particle sizes for cost-effective performance in various concrete products. The product is used in SCC/self-compacting concrete mixes, concrete masonry, concrete blocks, paving, concrete roof tiles, tiles, ready-mix and in shotcrete mixes.
BETOCARB ® performs two functions in concrete:
1. calcium ions (Ca++) of BETOCARB® help to accelerate the crystallization process of the calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-S-H) phases within the first 10 hours. The fine particles and calcium ions provide reaction sites for higher early hydration and more complete cement hydration. BETOCARB ® acts as a catalyst, providing a significant increase in early strength.
2. Get the perfect grain basket.
The fine particle size distribution of BETOCARB® provides optimal particle packing for filling the gaps between the coarser materials in concrete mixes.
- BETOCARB ® provides high early strength for prefabricated elements, masonry and shotcrete
- Improves the strength and properties of fresh concrete
- Improves particle packing/tightness of the mortar paste, increases density, improves compaction and durability
- Reduces the water/(cement + BETOCARB®) ratio because BETOCARB® does not increase water demand, thereby increasing the mechanical strength of concrete
- Reduces the number of potholes and reduces “chalking”, improving aesthetic appearance
- Provides a lighter color that is often desirable in architectural concrete, precast panels and masonry
- The increased density and reduced porosity reduces or eliminates the risk of efflorescence in pre-cast masonry
- Significantly improve efficiency from additives
- Improves pumpability and formability of concrete and reduces pump and nozzle wear on pump mixer and shotcrete mixer
- By optimizing the mix with BETOCARB®, savings can be realized by reducing other higher cost materials
- By optimizing the mix with BETOCARB ®, the cement content can be reduced, resulting in a reduction of CO2 emissions per cubic meter of concrete produced
F-6 lime filler
CaCO3 – lime filler for the concrete industry
F-6 Mineral chalk
The product is made from writing chalk, which is crushed, dried, pulverized and sieved.
F-6 Mineral Chalk is a fine-particle product that works extremely well as a filler in concrete.
Industrial chalk is used in roofing felt, putty, rubber, plastics, paint, asphalt and in the chemical industry.
F6 asphalt filler
CaCO3 – asphalt industry
F-6 asphalt filler
The product is made from writing chalk, which is crushed, dried, pulverized and sieved.
F-6 asphalt filler is slightly coarser than F-6 filler and is adapted to the production of asphalt. The product is also used as a filler in dry mortar.
Dankalk K/S works closely with industry
Dankalk has collaborated with the industry since the 1960s to develop chalk-based products called lime filler.
Lime filler is a general term for lime-based products used in a wide range of industries. Lime filler comes in different versions.
This means that today we can offer a wide range of specialty products with a high degree of refinement.
Through this strong collaboration, the industry has become one of Dankalk’s largest buyers of lime and chalk, and we expect to see even more new applications for these products in the future.
Lime and chalk are very flexible products with great potential, and we believe that more specialized product processing will open up new markets. Therefore, we look forward to continued development cooperation with companies and sectors within the industry and not least our co-owner OMYA, which is strong in the industrial lime segment.
Dankalk is continuously developing – in collaboration with a number of companies – new chalk-based products for the industry.
Here, the refined material is mainly used as a neutral, uniform filler. Lime and chalk have the added benefit of being cheap, easy to transport and easy to handle.
